The ''Journal of Phonetics'' is a peer-reviewed academic journal that covers topics in phonetics and phonology. It was established in 1973 and appears four times a year. It is published by Elsevier and the current editor-in-chief is Kenneth de Jong (Indiana University). == Aims and scope == The journal covers a wide scope of topics, including both auditory, acoustic, and articulatory phonetics, as well as the relation between phonetics and phonology. Phonetics-related aspects of foreign language acquisition are also covered, as well as pathological and technological issues.〔 〕 The journal publishes both theoretical and experimental papers, as well as review articles and letters to the editor. Special thematic issues are published occasionally.
